Hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, weight gain, vaginal dryness and the list goes on. Welcome to Menopause, the end of your fertile years and the beginning of your period-free life. Or so you thought. This was supposed to be easy …. It’s not.
Menopause feels like a volcano erupting inside you. This is insane. The sheets are soaked at night. You change them, shower and get back into bed only to wake, soaked, change your sheets, shower and do it all again. The sleep deprivation is worse than having a newborn. No wonder you feel like you’re losing your mind. And where did this anxiety come from and the weight gain?
For some of you it started with seeing your Doctor for ‘women’s problems’. Let’s call it for what it is ….. you’ve either been told you have fibroids, big ones, or your PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) is way out of control and the ablations haven’t worked so your uterus is as thin as paper and may rupture (tear) at any time, or your periods (menstruation cycle) have started to get irregular, very heavy (they weren’t before) and so painful (dysmenorrhea). Yes, he’s told you you’re menopausal and tells you ‘there’s no need for your uterus now, so let’s remove it.’ What? Oh, ok you say, not really knowing what this means and he hasn’t told you. No one tells you what happens after, so you just guess and hope.
The next thing you know, you’re waking in recovery in the hospital, being told you’ve had a full hysterectomy (they couldn’t save your fallopian tubes) and everything will be ok now. Yay, no more pain, no more problems. Wait, I’ll just slide gently into menopause, no problem. Big mistake and no-one told you.
The hut flushes and the night sweats begin. The anxiety and sleeplessness starts. What is going on? You are in full menopause and it’s not fun, not fun at all!
You’re offered HRT (hormone replacement therapy) but you’ve read about the Cancer link and you’re not too happy with that idea – both ideas.
You agree to HRT and you find you can’t take it, it’s not for you.
Now what? Your Doctor tells you you’ll just have to ride it out and get through it. What? Is that before or after I lose my mind, my marriage?!
You start researching and chatting with some girlfriends. A few of them tell you that they can’t take HRT either and they found hypnosis to work really well for them. So well that the night sweats and hot flushes have gone for some of them, for the others, they have reduced dramatically …. They can sleep and they no long feel like they are losing their mind. No more volcanic eruptions inside their bodies, just more balance. What a relief. You ask them for more information and they tell you about an internationally recognised and effective program call the Menopause Relief Program. Oh, and there’s an Andropause (the male equivalent of Menopause – it’s all about the hormones) part of the program too. Your friends caution you to look for the Menopause Relief Program that Helen Breward in the UK created and has taught hypnotherapists around the world. They tell you they stumbled across an imitation from an Australian Hypnotherapist in South Australia and suggest you steer clear of the imitation.
At this stage, you’re happy to try hypnosis. You do your research and you find Rebecca at My Perth Hypnotherapy and the rest is the best kind of history. You arrange to have a chat with her and find out about the gentle, non-invasive and highly effective Menopause Relief Program she’s been trained in by Helen Breward. Yes, let’s do this. You do and it is sweet relief on so many levels.
