Hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, weight gain, vaginal dryness and the list goes on.  Welcome to Menopause, the end of your fertile years and the beginning of your period-free life. Or so you thought.  This was supposed to be easy …. It’s not.

Menopause feels like a volcano erupting inside you.  This is insane.  The sheets are soaked at night. You change them, shower and get back into bed only to wake, soaked, change your sheets, shower and do it all again. The sleep deprivation is worse than having a newborn. No wonder you feel like you’re losing your mind. And where did this anxiety come from and the weight gain?

The next thing you know, you’re waking in recovery in the hospital, being told you’ve had a full hysterectomy (they couldn’t save your fallopian tubes) and everything will be ok now.  Yay, no more pain, no more problems.  Wait, I’ll just slide gently into menopause, no problem.  Big mistake and no-one told you.

The hut flushes and the night sweats begin. The anxiety and sleeplessness starts.  What is going on?  You are in full menopause and it’s not fun, not fun at all!

You’re offered HRT (hormone replacement therapy) but you’ve read about the Cancer link and you’re not too happy with that idea – both ideas.

You agree to HRT and you find you can’t take it, it’s not for you.

Now what?  Your Doctor tells you you’ll just have to ride it out and get through it.  What?  Is that before or after I lose my mind, my marriage?!
